Grand Tour of Morocco Itinerary:

 

1st Day: Tangier – Fnidq – Tetouan – Chefchaouen
Your Grand Tour of Morocco begins in Tangier, where we’ll pick you up from the airport or ferry terminal. From there, we’ll head southwards to explore the charming coastal town of Fnidq, known for its beautiful beaches and laid-back atmosphere.

Next, we’ll venture to Tetouan, a city steeped in history and culture, with its well-preserved medina recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stroll through its narrow alleys, marvel at the intricate architecture, and immerse yourself in the vibrant local life.

As the day unfolds, we’ll make our way to Chefchaouen, the “Blue Pearl” of Morocco. Nestled amidst the Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen is famous for its blue-painted buildings, creating a captivating and serene atmosphere. Enjoy an evening of leisure to explore the charming streets, sample local cuisine, and experience the magical ambiance of this unique town. Spend the night in a comfortable accommodation in Chefchaouen.

2nd Day: Chefchaouen – Chefchaouen
Wake up to the refreshing mountain air of Chefchaouen and savor a delightful breakfast. Take in the breathtaking vistas of the blue-washed city as you wander through its picturesque streets.

In the morning, you’ll have some free time to explore more of Chefchaouen’s hidden gems, shop for local handicrafts, or simply soak in the laid-back ambiance. Don’t miss the opportunity to capture memorable photos of this stunning town.

3rd Day: Chefchaouen – Volubulis & Meknes – Fes
After your breakfast in the riad, our journey will start towards Volubilis via Riff Mounatins and other rif villages. Volubilis
embodies the roman ruins and presents a unique archaeological site of Moroccan history, after the visit of the ruins we will shift our way to Meknes city, an imperial city in the 17th century, where we will hang around the historical huge walls of the
medina, bab el mansour. Then we continue to Fes after lunch. Check in your Hotel in Fes on BB.

4th Day: Fez – Fes Medina City Tour – Fes
After breakfast a cultural tour is waiting you through the intellectual capital of Fez which was considered Mecca of the west
and Athena of Africa.It is the biggest city of the country after Casablanca with a population of approximately 1 million.This
city is a the former capital and one of the country’s four imperial cities. Fez comprises three distinct parts, Fez el Bali which
is the oldest part surrounded by a big wall, where are more than 9000 narrow streets and allies. Fez-Jdid or the new Fes,
home of the Mellah the Jewish quarter and the Ville Nouvelle the newest section of Fez created during the French
occupation.
Fez el Bali is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its medina is the largest in the world. Among its narrow streets and allies, the
oldest university in the world is located; The University of Al-Karaouine, founded in AD 859. This University is still operating
nowadays.

5th Day: Fes – Azrou and Ifrance – Boulaajoul
You’ll be picked up from your Hotel or Riad in Fes then drive southwards to Ifrane known as the Switzerland of Morocco
and Azrou, on the way we will stop at cedar forest to see the Barbarian Ape in their natural habitat. Continuing through the
magnificent mountains of the middle atlas, then arrive to Boulajoul

6th Day: Boulaajoul– Errachidia – Sahara Desert Merzouga
Leave Hotel by the enchanting Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock, you’ll see views of the Middle-Atlas plateau,
noticing how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the city Errachidia. After lunch, we’ll
continue our journey through the Ziz valley Erfoud, Rissani then Merzouga Sahara Desert where you will take 30 minutes of
camel trek into the Sahara Desert and spend the night in a berber tented Camp.

7th Day: Merzouga – Sahara Desert Exploration – Merzouga
Throughout the sand dunes, Your Grand Tour of Morocco continues for a drive on these fabulous landscapes on the edge of the Erg Chebbi, the largest sand
dunes in Morocco. We will see plenty of nomadic black tents behind the sand dunes. We shall stop by a nomadic family to
have tea and see what a nomadic life looks like, and then we continue our Sahara desert trip and drive to discover the
nomadic life of black African people by visiting Alkhamliya, a village where nothing has been changed through centuries.
Either we lunch here in Alkhamliya village or we go back to our hotel and lunch there. After taking a nap, we go on a camel
ride to meet one of the most fascinating sights ever seen, the superb sunset in the middle of the high sand dunes of
Merzouga. Tonight we stay in Berber tented desert camp and enjoy a wonderful stars view.

8th Day: Merzouga – Rissani – Fossils Quarry – Merzouga
We return from the desert, we will drive to Taouz to explore some prehistorian archeological engravings. Then we will go to
Rissani, known in the past as Siljimassa, as it used to be an imperial town earlier than Fes. It was also deemed as an
important point for trade caravan’s routes of Mali and Niger, who carried spices and slaves. We will take a look to the
famous gate, the ancient palaces and the vibrant souk. At lunch, we will have one of the city’s specialties’, the saharian
pizza. Later, we visit the fossils exhibition and return to the hostel.

9th Day: Merzouga – Off Roading to Ramlia
After breakfast we will begin our adventure to the heart of the sahara through the famouse Rally Dakars trackto discover
the pure wilderness of Morocco’s south east,passing the village of Ouzina which offering splendid sand dunes then continue
through ziz river till we will arrive to the Village of Ramlia there you will walk to discover the primitive way of life by the
local people.Then check the Auberge near by the village where you will relishing the panoramic view of the sunset.

10th Day: Ramlia – Tafraoute – Zagora
After breakfast Continue our adventure through the dry river Oued Ghris which is rough and dusty places till we will arrive
to Gorges of M’harech crossing many villages and Nomads with many Akasia Trees and among different desert aspects like
Valleys and Rocky Mountains.Arrive to Zagora and check the Hotel

11th Day: Zagora – Alnif –Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
After breakfast drive through Draa Valley rich of Palm plantations along the way then stop in one the amazing panoramic to
see the ocean of palm and many Kasbahs then we leave the Valley and drive to the east towards manys berber villages till
we arrive to Todra valley and Gorges its an ideal place for walking and exploring in your own.Have lunch then drive to Dades
and check the Hotel

12th Day: Dades – Boutaghrar – Skoura – Ait Benhaddou
Among the beautiful Dades Valley, Your Grand Tour of Morocco carry one by riding by the track that leads to the rose valley and the magnificent berber village of Boutghrart where
We will drink tea with a local host family. We will go on along the thousand casbahs route observing tens of Kasbahs by the
road, while hundreds of others situated inside the valley of Skoura. We continue our way passing by Ouarzazate, as
“Hollywood of Africa” for being a backdrop of films due its Cinematic studios, then we arrive at Ait Benhaddou Kasbah,
another enchanting ksar, where many movies were filmed (Obelix, Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia and Game of thrones)
Diner and night in the hotel.

13th Day: Ait Benhaddou – Telouet – Marrakech
After breakfast, we will visit the kasbah of Ait Behadou, until we get on the top of the hill, overlooking the Kasbah and the
Ounila seasonal river. After that, we leave the site, to another Kasbah, called Telouet, located at the beginning of High
Mountains. Lunch will be served in Tizi n’Tichka (2260 meters) with its beautiful landscapes. Arriving to Marrakech at the
evening, drop you in your Riad.

14th Day: Marrakech – Medina City Tour – Marrakech
A Full guided tour will be scheduled to discover Marrakesh, Tourist Number 1 destination in Morocco, known as the “Red
City”. Marrakesh is the most important former imperial city in Morocco’s history; it is situated near the foothills of the high
Atlas Mountain. Similarly to other old towns, Marrakech comprises both an old fortified city The Medina and a very modern
city called Gueliz built during the French occupation. Marrakesh has the largest traditional market (souk) in Morocco and
also has one of the busiest squares in Africa and the world, Djemaa el Fna. The square is full of energy and vibes, where
story-tellers, water sellers, dancers, snakes charmers and musicians perform in open air. During the night the square turns
into a huge chain restaurant.
During our guided city tour, we will see The Koutoubia Mosque, built in the 12th century in the reign of Almoravid Dynasty.
We will go among narrow streets and allies in the medina. We pass by “seven saints” during the reign of Moulay Ismail, the
festival of the seven saints was founded to the request of the Sultan. The tombs of several renowned figures were moved to
Marrakesh to attract pilgrims.

15th Day: Marrakech – Essaouira
After breakfast leave to Essaouira ,a small fortified city bathed by the Atlantic and declared World Heritage Site in 2001 and
has traditionally been given names such as The pearl of the atlantic or sleeping Beauty .There you can stroll and enjoy the
beaches,the walls and the Medina.Check the hotel

16th Day: Essaouira – Essaouira

17th Day: Essaouira – Casablanca

Start your journey in Essaouira and head north to Casablanca. In Casablanca, visit the iconic Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, with its stunning architecture and oceanfront location. Explore the vibrant Corniche area and enjoy a walk along the bustling boulevards. Overnight in Casablanca.

18th Day: Casablanca – Rabat – Asilah

Depart from Casablanca and drive to Rabat, the capital city of Morocco. In Rabat, visit the impressive Hassan Tower and the nearby Mausoleum of Mohammed V, both significant historical landmarks. Explore the charming Kasbah of the Udayas, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its narrow alleys and blue-and-white painted houses. Don’t miss the chance to stroll along the picturesque Bouregrag River and visit the bustling Medina of Rabat. Continue your journey to Asilah and enjoy the town’s beautiful beaches, historic medina, and vibrant art scene. Overnight in Asilah.

19th Day: Asilah – Tangier

Leave Asilah and head to Tangier, the gateway to Africa. Visit the historic Kasbah and enjoy panoramic views of the Strait of Gibraltar. Explore the bustling medina, filled with narrow streets, bustling markets, and authentic Moroccan culture. Don’t miss a visit to the American Legation, a fascinating museum showcasing the strong ties between Morocco and the United States. Overnight in Tangier.

20th Day: Tangier – Departure

On your final day, you can explore more of Tangier, do some last-minute shopping, or simply relax and soak in the atmosphere of this vibrant city. Later, we’ll arrange your transfer to the Tangier airport or ferry terminal for your onward journey.
